Exploration Three

A literacy event that came to me was when I went to a concert of one of my favorite musicians, J Cole. After a few songs he took a break to talk to the crowd and express his gratitude for everyone showing up. He began to describe the meaning of the song he was about to perform, the song "Love Yourz". He described it as saying the song was him sharing his journey of trying to achieve his goal of being famous and making a bunch of money and how he wouldnt be happy until he did so. But once he acheived his goal and became famous and got a record deal and started making money he noticed he wasn't happy around the people he was with now. Even though he got his dream its not what he thought it was and in the song he says "For what's money without hapiness?
Or hard times without the people you love?" This made me realize that I need to appreciate all that I have in life and how thankful I am.

Out of the three issues we learned about, the one that speaks most to me is the issues of policy. This one stands out to me because i believe it can be applied to many argumentable subjects in todays society. One of the subjects that is argued about is whether or not college athletes should be paid. Many think that they shouldnt be because instead of payment they are receiving scholorships. Others believe that schools make so much money off of these kids that they should get to see some of it. I personally believe they should be paid, but only schools that make a certain amount of money. I think schools like Ohio State should pay becasue its unfair to see these colleges make a bunch of money like in football and have these college kids put their bodies out there at the expense of their school.
