  1. I really like how you took a very strong position on believing the St. Louis Arch is the most historically important monument. I also agreed with you when you concluded that the Arch is the most important monument to its city. I also learned a lot about what the arch stood for and symbolized. I never knew that it represented westward expansion and that makes a lot of sense to me now. My only critique is that you didn't know its connection to St Louis. This probably isn't that big of a deal because it doesn't tie in to the big picture. So overall I believe you did a very good job and it was the best presentation yet.

  2. I really loved how strongly you believed that the Saint Louis Arch was the most patriotic monument. You did a really good job on explaining how the arch came to be and also adding humor into your presentation. Like when Tanner was talking about how many steps it would take to get to the top of the arch and he was winded coming up the steps to class today. Something that you could have done to make the presentation better would have been to explain more about how it was iconic.

  3. You made the presentation entertaining for the audience by really expressing how passionate you were about your topic. I also really enjoyed the video showing high the arch really is. I also thought the comparison to Chevrolet Trucks when describing the amount of concrete and steel used to construct the arch as well as comparing the price of constructing it to that of other famous monuments. My only critiques about the presentation is that some slides were hard to read and the argument could've been stronger about why it is iconic.

  4. I liked how you were very expressive and persuasive in telling us why the St. Louis Arch is so iconic. I never knew the Mississippi River flows below it. Good use of the video in the beginning, it captures the audiences attention. I like the facts but there were so many it was over whelming. I also felt like you were rambling on just to prove your argument. Well done overall.

  5. This was a very good presentation. I love how you guys started off with an interactive question to engage the crowd. I also liked your comparison of the Chevy Silverado to the weight of the arch. From this presentation, I learned the true meaning of the arch and why it was iconic. One thing that could have been improved was that your power point slides had a lot of writing.

  6. I think this was a very good presentation and very persuasive. One thing is for sure… Tanner is for sure going to be a major politician some day with his use of persuasion. I like how you made it an argumentative presentation somewhat. I also imagined the arch to be heavier than it actually is. One thing to strengthen your presentation is to include more of the significance of St. Louis.

  7. I think this was a great presentation. I liked how you went into description of the arch. One thing that I learned was that there was a contest for this sculpture. I also thought it was crazy how there are 1,076 steps. One thing that I think you could have done differently was your color scheme. It was kind of all over the place and some of the colored font was hard to read on some backgrounds.

  8. I really enjoyed your presentation about the St. Louis Arch. Before your presentation I did not know much about the arch only that it was in St. Louis, but through your presentation I learned a lot more. I really liked how both of you were very passionate and well informed about your topic. I also enjoyed how you really went in to detail about what the arch meant to the USA when it was being built and how it was built at the peak of American dominance. What I think you could have improved on was coordinating the color of your slides and maybe could have included a better video. Maybe one telling facts about the arch or maybe a video from when the arch opened.

  9. 1) I learned a lot about the St. Louis arch from your guys's presentation and I liked learning about what made the architectural marvel so special, especially the weird little facts about it like how it was originally designed 30 years before the build even began!

    2) The overall presentation of the topic was good, but some of the text on the powerpoint was hard to read because of the backgrounds. The slides also seemed very "busy" in the sense that they seemed rushed together and could've used a little tidy up before the presentation began.

  10. I enjoyed the presentation a lot. The gateway to the West was interesting and a solid point to make the Arch iconic. The arch also being a unique monument to America was a cool point to add as well.

I, like everyone else, thought the presentation was hard to read in some places. I also did not feel that there was much analysis from the students presenting that was not already on the slides. I thought that all of the information was already there and there was nothing new to be presented from the slides' information.

  11. I thought that it was presented well and I liked that you involved the audience into the presentation as well.
I think that it seemed like you were trying to cram in a bunch of information onto the slides, and it was hard to focus on the main point of the slide.

  12. I thought this was an excellent presentation. The way they engaged the audience and moved around the room kept it interesting and made it easier to pay attention. They had a lot of good information and it was organized very well.

Really the only criticism I have is the PowerPoint. Like someone said earlier, there was a lot of information on the slides. Having too much wording on the slides takes attention away from the presenters. Also, the text was difficult to read on some of the slides because it was too small or too lightly colored.

  13. The presentation itself was outlined very well and was very organized. The talking points were very persuasive and i think that helped keep my attention. I never knew that you could go up to the top and i didn't know any of the cool history before. I am convinced that the arch is one of the best.

The powerpoint did have a lot of information and there was a lot of rambling that took away from some of the great points. I didn't think it was very personalized, instead it was a lot of facts and information.

  15. I really never thought of that monument as iconic until i saw this presentation. I really liked this presentation and it made me think twice. The way it was presented helped a lot. The only think I would change is how fast the talking was.

  17. I really enjoyed the energy you both brought. You were moving and enthusiastic and kept people listening. I really liked how you compared the Arch to other well-known monuments, and then took an affirmative stand that it was the most iconic. Great thesis. I don't think you could have presented better, great job!

  18. I thought the presentation that was given was pretty great and filled with enthusiasm. Right at the beginning you interacted with the audience, which I thought would keep the audience engaged and intrigue their interest. I thought it was neat to redefine what patriotism symbolizes when it comes to monuments that are beloved to this great nation. Things I thought that could've been better are the way the slides were put together. With the font and slide color, the slides were hard to read at times. But I thought the presentation was great and I enjoyed the different approach to patriotism.

  19. So far i believe this presentation was the most entertaining and persuading, opening up with the question to get us thinking really worked and then you trying to persuade everyone that the arch is the most patriotic symbol in america was great. I think it could have been more organized with the slides but everything else was great.
