  1. I liked the pictures on your slides that showed how devastating this event was. I can't believe that there were 67 shots that lasted for only 13 seconds, that statistic really stuck out to me. I also thought it was very tragic to hear that 2 students who weren't even protesting were among the four killed. I thought the video was interesting but would have fit better before your slide about the aftermath.

  2. I thought the events leading up to the Kent State Shooting were explained really well. I never quite understood them. I liked your comparison to oval to help better understand the scene at Kent State.
I thought it added to your presentation that you explained how people view the Kent State Shooting today. Your thesis was very clear as to why the Kent State shooting was the most ionic event of the 70's because students were actually killed.
One thing I think you could have improved on was explaining the first picture. It is the most ionic picture the most ionic event of the 70's, but why is it so ionic? You never really got to that. Besides that I really enjoyed your presentation!

  3. Like Jessica mentioned in her comment, I didn't even know there were that many shot in that amount of time. It makes you wonder how many National Guardsman actually fired upon the students. Was it just six of them or was it more than that? I just thought you could of talked more about how this event effected other schools in the area.

  4. You had a lot of good information on the background and what caused the shootings. I didn't know there was so much behind it. I also found it interesting/upsetting that two students who were not even protesting were killed. That shocked me.

One thing that could have been done better is go more in depth about how the shooting affected the nation. You briefly, touched on it, but I would have liked to learn more about how the even affected the country and how it affected the surrounding schools.

  5. 1) The best part of the presentation was the images. The fact that you had not only the most iconic image from the Kent State Shootings (the image of the girl screaming over the dead body) but several other images I’d never seen before from the shootings and the events surrounding them really added to the presentation.

    2) The slides could have been improved by adding more text to them. Adding your main points to the slides, for example, would have helped reinforce the presentation. The slides also could have been improved by adding empty space between the images and margins between the edges of the slides and the images. Having all the images right up against each other, especially if they’re highly contrasting images, is often confusing and visually unpleasant.

  6. The presentation you both did had a marvelous impact on the audience when discussing real world problems, which I believe made me understand how significant the shootings had not just in Ohio, but the United States. I think the video was put in a bad spot in the presentation, i always believed that videos should be played before the conclusion so you can fully deliver the statement you want the audience to receive

  7. I thought it was really effective to take on the task of interpreting the iconic picture of the shooting first. Since that is probably the first thing that flashes into someone's mind when they think about the Kent State shooting, I thought that was very effective to make that the first thing you talk about. I thought it was very informative to go into the events that led up to the shooting so that the audience could understand the context of the situation. I thought the pictures were great. With that being said, I would've liked to see more text in your slideshow to make your point across, which we really don't get to until the end. I thought you guys could've spoken up. I thought the video was kind of out of place, but I really like the fact that you showed to poll ratings of the people who supported and opposed the war after the shooting. I think it gave the audience a different side of the story which was how the American people felt at that time. I thought the presentation could've used a little more work.

  8. One thing that you guys did really well with was the statistics of everything that went on. I also really like how you incorporated the graph of the approval rating of the president. One thing that you could have improved on was wording the presentation in a more formal way. At some points it seemed like you were just talking to a close friend when presentations are supposed to be a little more formal. Other than that I think you guys did a great job!

  9. Something that you did really good was all of the statistics that you had I think that it really helped by showing how tragic this event actually was. Something that I really didn't know about is that two of the students killed weren't even protesters, they were just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Something that you could have done better was to explain more on why the shooting was so iconic, I mean you talked about the picture in the very beginning of your presentation and then you really didn't talk about it for the rest of your presentation.

  10. This was one of my favorite presentations. I really liked how you told us about the 4 students who were shot and killed and the story of how all of them were killed, i think its unfortunate for all of them that were killed but especially for the boy and girl who weren't even apart of the riot. I would liked to have had a clearer understanding about the other incidents that happened in the other states but other than that it was great!

  11. I really enjoyed the pictures in your presentation. I also liked that you knew your topic very well. One thing that I learned was that there was 67 shots fired and that it lasted 13 seconds. One thing that I think you could have done differently is explain more about the other shootings that happened around this time.

  12. Good job explaining such a complicated topic. I liked that you explained what lead to the shooting and I never knew what exactly they were protesting other than just the war as a whole. I found it shocking that none of the soldiers got in serious trouble. I felt like you could have been more clear in explaining what other events took place around the country at that time, and there was no clear comparison.

  13. The Kent State shooting was a terrible accident and Eli and John did well to explain the overall situation. The information was well presented and I actually learned a few things from the presentation.

The comparison was lackluster though. Also, explaining the other events across the state and knowing the fact that Kent State was the only one with deaths on the campus would have made the presentation flow better.

  14. I really learned a lot about the Kent State Shootings. I thought that I knew a lot about the shootings, but I realized I did not. One thing I think that you guys did really well was talking about events that led up to the shootings. One thing that I think you guys could have improved on was maybe comparing them to shootings that happen today and how they are different and how they are the same.
