  1. I didn't know who Copeland was before this presentation but after the presentation i learned that she is a hard working, barrier breaking individual. I think one thing you couldve done better was having things more prepared into the presentation.

  2. I have heard of Misty Copeland but didn't really know much about her before this presentation and I liked how you guys began the presentation with a video to introduce her to people who didn't know who she was. I also liked how the slides were organized like the one slide that had a picture of her as a child beside a current picture of her. One criticism is that you could've had a link to the video on the presentation slide instead of having to take time to search for it.

  3. I had never heard of Misty Copeland before this presentation. I loved hearing about her story from you guys. The video was very powerful and it gave me goose bumps. I could tell you were very passionate about your topic and I really liked that! Your thesis was very clear.
There were a lot of words on your slides so sometimes it was hard to follow the presentation between listening and reading and I agree with comments before me that you could have been more prepared!

  4. I liked how you chose to do a more recent athlete as an icon, I had never heard of Misty Copeland before but her more recent situations were easy relate to, and I could sympathize more. I like how you started with her background and then led into more recent awards and things. Everything was great, the only thing to really work on is linking your video so it doesn't take as long to pull up.

  5. I have never heard of Misty Copeland, but after this presentation I can see who she is and what she represents. It really showed me that there are people out there who are still the right things and giving back to the world. She is very talented and you guys really showed me that. I liked the setup of your slideshow but i have to agree with Jessica and John and say that the video being linked would have helped you guys a lot.

  6. Overall I thought it was a good presentation. I really liked how you cleared stated why she is iconic and what she did. It made it easy to follow and.

Like everyone above me, the biggest criticism I have was being prepared. It took a good couple minutes to pull up the video and if it were already pulled up or there was a link to it on the powerpoint, things would have went a lot smoother.

  8. 1) The best part of the presentation was the link to the modern day world. I really liked the body positivity message, especially the message that “If you love yourself, people are going to love you too”. I thought this was very relevant to the current world.

    2) Like everyone else, I believe the presentation would have been much shorter and overall better if the video had been linked to/embedded in the actual presentation instead of having to search for it. Also, the background theme chosen for the slides was jarring with some of the images.

  9. One thing i noticed and applaud you for is that fact that you opened by asking us if we knew someone who isn't the most well known person ever, and when the class didn't know who you engaged your presentation to boost her name recognition and you taught everyone in the class who she was and why she is so symbolic. The thing that hurt however was the difficulty in explaining how she was iconic when no one knew who she was, and you ultimately got there but it was stalled and that is why the presentation was the longest one of all.

  10. I actually have looked up to Misty Copeland since 2003 when she wasn't that well known. I started dancing when I was young and continued it through high school, and I am not the normal body type for dance either. She was someone I looked up to for that reason. I enjoyed the video and the way you introduced her as "the unlikely ballerina". I think that really helped the audience get to know her and what she really stood for. I thought the slides were okay. Sometimes you had a whole paragraph on a slide which was very difficult to read. I really do feel that you did get your point across as to how she was iconic. I thought you guys could've been louder and you could have been more prepared, not only about the video, but the speaking portion as well. Overall, I feel that you got your point across, but it needed to be polished.

  11. I think you guys did a good job with describing her influence even past dancing. I think its cool how encourages girls all over to love themselves and their body types. One thing that could have been better is your presentation felt kind of rushed and the audience didnt have time to take in what you were saying.

  12. I really liked your presentation! I never knew nor had I even heard of Misty Copeland before your presentation, i really like how you used a video to explain her life and how she became a ballerina and how she was against the odds and how it was against everything for her to be a ballerina. Something that I really liked was when she said "That she doesn't care that she doesn't look like other ballerinas." I really like how she did things that broke the race barrier and played typical white female roles. Something that you could have done better was to have your video already ready because not having your video ready added a lot of time, and it would have been better if you had a video better.

  14. I had never heard of Misty Copeland before this presentation but you both did a very good job at filling me in as who she is as a person and the obstacles she had to overcome. I think you guys should have been more prepared with the video and had the link attached to the powerpoint so it wouldn't take so long to pull up

  15. Well done, you both explained her accomplishments and her importance in the dance world. I never knew she was such an influential role model. The presentation was well laid out and clear. I would have saved the video to the end to act as your conclusion. It was unfortunate the video took so long to play, not really your fault, so just be prepared for technical difficulties.

  16. Misty Copeland is on of the most inspirational people of all time I would say. The presentation did a good job of outlining her life and her achievements and what she stands for. Specifically her role in promoting a healthy body image and being happy with your body.

The presentation gave facts on who she is and how famous she is, yet lacks the representation Misty deserves. The presentation was not well put together and I thought could have been made better.

  17. I thought your presentation was done very well. One thing I think that you guys did really well was explain what Copeland has meant to young women. One thing I think that you guys could have done better was explain the importance of Copeland to the American culture as a whole.
